Team India’s wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant was all praise for his teammate Virat Kohli. He expressed that veteran batters experience benefits in coping with pressure situations. Both Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli are part of India’s T20I squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Team India will kick off its T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on Sunday, October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Ahead of the mega-clash, wicket-keeper batter, Rishabh Pant spoke to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The Team Indian cricketer expressed that it’s nice to bat alongside Virat Kohli, as the right-handed batter guides the players during pressure situations. He said,
“He (Kohli) can actually teach you how to go through situations, which might help you in your cricket journey going forward, so it is nice batting with him as always. It’s good to have someone with a lot of experience batting with you because he can take you through how to take the game on and how to maintain that run-a-ball pressure kind of thing.”
Recalling India’s T20 World Cup 2021 match against Pakistan, when Rishabh Pant and the then Team India skipper Virat Kohli put on a 53 runs partnership, Rishabh Pant stated,
“I fondly remember that I smacked Hasan Ali for two sixes in the same over, We were just trying to get the run rate up because we lost early wickets and we staged a partnership – me and Virat. We were increasing the run rate and I smacked him for two sixes with one hand… my special shot.”
It’s always special playing against Pakistan: Rishabh Pant
Team India’s wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant expressed that India vs Pakistan matches are always special, because of the hype that surrounds the game. He added that singing the national anthem on the field gives him goosebumps.
“It’s always special playing against Pakistan because there is a special hype around that match as always. There are so many emotions involved, not only for us but the fans and everyone. It’s a different kind of feeling, a different kind of ambience when you go on to the field and when you take on the field, you see people cheering here and there. It’s a different atmosphere and when we were singing our national anthem, I actually get goosebumps,” said Rishabh Pant.
