During the third ODI between India and Australia in Sydney on Saturday, October 25, Virat Kohli reached a major career milestone. The right-handed batsman surpassed former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history. Kohli achieved this feat by scoring his 54th run in his 293rd innings (305th ODI).
Remarkably, Kohli needed 87 fewer innings than Sangakkara to reach this landmark. He secured the record-breaking run with a single off Cooper Connolly in the 32nd over.

Kohli-Rohit Century Partnership Powers India vs Australia
A composed batting effort from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma kept India in control against Australia in the third ODI, with the pair compiling a century partnership for the second wicket. Rohit continued his rich form, registering back-to-back half-centuries in the series. At the time of reporting, India stood at 186/3 after 31.3 overs.
Earlier, Australia were restricted to 236 all out in 46.4 overs. Matt Renshaw led the scoring with 56 off 58 balls, while captain Mitchell Marsh contributed 41 runs from 50 deliveries. Travis Head, Alex Carey, and Cooper Connolly added valuable 20s.
Harshit Rana was the standout bowler for India, claiming 4/39, with Washington Sundar picking up two wickets. Axar Patel, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each. The two sides will next face off in a five-match T20I series, starting in Canberra on October 29.
