Virat Kohli was India’s only hope when the chase got close in the 3rd T20I at SCG. The hosts Australia set India a competitive total of 187 runs to win the series by a 3-0 margin. Team India’s chase started on the worst possible note as KL Rahul gave away his wicket for a duck in the first over. In came the Indian captain to the crease and after a few initial scares started anchoring the chase.
Wickets kept falling at one end but Kohli stood firm and played some delightful strokes. When the asking run rate kept going away from India the partnership of Hardik Pandya and Kohli brought them into the contest. The two electrified the packed house at SCG with some outrageous strokes. When it seemed the duo will take India home, Adam Zampa picked the massive wicket of Pandya.
Virat Kohli Departs Courtesy Of A Fine Catch By Daniel Sams
Once he was dismissed it was all on Kohli to take India home and clean sweep the series. Unfortunately in the very next over Kohli was dismissed courtesy of a fine diving catch from fast bowler Daniel Sams. Kohli tried attacking the first ball of the 18th over when India needed 36 runs to win.

The bowler Andrew Tye sensed Virat Kohli looking to hit the first ball for a maximum and bowled it slightly wide. The Indian captain was unable to get under the ball and could only slice it to Sams who was fielding at sweeper cover. Sams attacked the ball and dived in front to take the catch which ended up being the match-winning moment for Australia.
Meanwhile, Kohli scored 85 runs in 61 balls which included 4 sixes and 3 boundaries. It was a valiant effort from the Indian skipper but he failed to take the side home and Australia eventually won the match by 12 runs.
