Virat Kohli was extremely disappointed after team India lost the pink ball test match convincingly. Team India was the better side on the first two days of the test but just didn’t show up on Day 3. Australia was ruthless in on Day 3 and completely exposed Indian batsmen against the moving ball again. Josh Hazelwood and Pat Cummins brought their A-game and just kept nicking off the Indian batsman. It ended up being an embarrassing session for team India as they registered their lowest ever test score.

The Indian captain scored valuable 74 runs in the first innings but wasn’t able to continue his form in the second. Kohli went cheaply for 4 as Cummins dismissed him for the 5th time in Test cricket. Eventually, India made just 36 runs yes just 36 runs and gave Australia a modest target of 90 runs to chase. As expected Australia chased down the target with ease and won by 8 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the 4 match test series.

Really Hurts, Virat Kohli after losing the pink ball Test match

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Virat Kohli accepted that his side collapsed under pressure. Kohli added that his side after competing for 2 days just lost the test in one hour today which hurts the most. The Indian captain who will miss the last 3 test matches wants his side to reflect and learn from there mistakes moving ahead.

“It’s very hard to put those feeling into words. We had a lead of 60-odd when we arrived. And then just collapsed. Played two days of good cricket to get in a position and then just lose it in an hour. Really hurts. Probably didn’t have enough intent in the batting today. It’s something that needs to be reflected and learnt from”, Virat Kohli said.

Meanwhile, Kohli continued and said that the batsmen weren’t in a mindset to score runs today against the Australian bowlers. He made sure that he also praised the brilliant bowling of the Aussie pacers who kept on bowling in the right areas. The tour of Australia will now get extra difficult for team India as they will be without Kohli in the last 3 test matches.

Also, the streak of captain Kohli of winning tests after winning the toss has also been broken after 26 test matches. It was complete carnage in the first session today which the side will be ample time to reflect upon with the second test match still 6 days away. The second Test between Australia and India will be played at MCG from December 26.

Bowlers bowled similar kind of areas in the first innings as well, but then our mindset was to get runs. There were some good balls. But I don’t think it did anything drastic. Just the atmosphere was created where runs were difficult to come by. I think it was a combination of both – lack of intent, and bowlers bowling in good areas. Obviously, you want to be committed to the team’s cause. Confidence the boys going forward will reflect on this and come up with a better result on Boxing Day.

Furthermore, the Indian captain also revealed that there’s no news regarding Mohammed Shami’s injury currently as he has gone for a scan after being struck o his hand while batting.

“No news on Shami, he’s going for a scan now. Was in a lot of pain, couldn’t even lift his arm. We’ll probably know in the evening what happens”, Kohli said.
