“Virat Kohli Gave Me Like 7 Options To Play Off That One Ball” -Ravichandran Ashwin Shares His Memories Of The Thrilling Match Against Pakistan At The MCG

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reminisced about an unforgettable moment during the 2022 T20 World Cup match against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Ashwin revealed that when he walked in to face the last ball of the match, his teammate Virat Kohli provided him with around seven options on how to play it.

In a thrilling encounter, India emerged victorious with a four-wicket win over Pakistan in a last-ball finish.

Chasing a target of 160, India required two runs off the final delivery after Dinesh Karthik was stumped off Mohammad Nawaz.

Nawaz bowled a wide, and Ashwin famously sealed the victory by lofting him over the infield.

In a video shared on the International Cricket Council’s official Instagram account, Ashwin shared his thoughts on the intense final moments of the game.

He admitted initially cursing Karthik for assigning him the tougher task, but as he walked in to bat, he realized the magnitude of the situation with the crowd in a frenzy.

Ashwin recalled the advice he received from an energized Virat Kohli at the other end.

Kohli provided him with multiple options for playing the ball, but Ashwin acknowledged his limitations and focused on himself, considering Kohli’s intense demeanor.

He felt Kohli was in another world and decided to concentrate on his own approach.

Discussing the crucial moment before hitting the winning run, Ashwin expressed his confidence in India’s victory once Nawaz delivered a wide.

He believed cricket sends powerful messages, and the wide delivery conveyed positivity to him, affirming his belief that he would emerge victorious.

Ashwin praised Kohli for his remarkable innings. He described it as one of the best games he had witnessed and been a part of.

Virat Kohli was named the Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 82 off 53 balls

The MCG clash saw India endure a shaky start, losing four wickets for just 31 runs while chasing 160.

However, Kohli and Hardik Pandya (40 off 37) revived India’s hopes with a crucial fifth-wicket partnership of 113 runs.

Despite the required run rate being challenging, Kohli played an extraordinary innings, hitting six fours and four sixes to guide India to a memorable victory over Pakistan.
