Virat Kohli meant business from ball one when he came out to bat against Australia in the first ODI. After Indian openers gave a flying start in the chase, Kohli wanted to carry the momentum and take advantage of the batting powerplay. Aussie captain Aaron Finch introduced is trump card Pat Cummins who has a brilliant record against Kohli.

The Indian captain was in an attacking mood and was not going to let Cummins dictate terms. The Aussie fast bowler decided to target his great rival with rising short deliveries. His plan almost came off when Kohli top-edged a pull shot but fortunately for him it was dropped by his RCB teammate Adam Zampa.

Virat Kohli Hits A Majestic Flick For 6

Kohli at the time was just 1 and Australia knew the value of his prized scalp in the run chase. The drop chance further freed Virat Kohli up and he continued going hard after Cummins. In the next few balls, he smashed Cummins for boundaries as he looked in ominous forms.

The short of the match came when Virat Kohli shuffled onto his off stump and nonchalantly flicked Cummins for a majestic six. It wasn’t a bad ball by any means but Kohli made it look one as he deposited Cummins over the deep square leg boundary much to the delight of the Indian fans.

The replays suggested that Kohli enjoyed his stroke as he saw the ball sailing in the stands. Chasing a mammoth total of 376 runs team India wanted their captain to stay at the crease and control the run chase.

However, against the run of play in the last over of the powerplay Kohli gifted his wicket to Hazelwood. The fast bowler outsmarted Kohli and bowled it short when he saw him coming down the track. Kohli miscued the attempted pull shot badly and gave an easy catch to Finch standing at short mid-wicket for 21 runs.
