Virat Kohli received a huge confidence boost ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy semifinals

In the latest rankings announced by ICC, Virat Kohli reclaimed the number 1 ranked batsmen in One day international cricket after great performance in the last league match of the Champions Trophy 2017 against South Africa scoring 76* not out and helping India to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.

India will face Bangladesh in the semi-finals on 15th June at Edgbaston. Before the Champions Trophy 2017, Virat Kohli was 22 points behind AB de Villiers who was number since March 10th 2017. He was 19 points behind David Warner. He scored 81 in the first match against Pakistan and 76 not out against South Africa which helped him to become the number 1 ranked batsmen.

The second place is occupied by David Warner who did not have a great outing in the Champions Trophy 2017 with 861 points. AB de Villiers scored just 20 runs in the 3 matches and has dropped down to third with 847 points.

Joe Root is having a great Champions Trophy 2017 for England contributing in each match. He is currently at 4th place with 798 points. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson had a great Champions Trophy 2017 scoring 244 runs in 3 matches and has climbed from 9th to 5th. Despite that his team was knocked in the group stages.

Quinton de Kock also did not have a great Champions Trophy 2017 and slipped down to sixth in the batsmen rankings while South Africa team mate Faf du Plessis is at 7th place with 768 points.

Pakistan number 3 batsmen, Babar Azam is not having a great Champions Trophy 2017 and has slipped down to 8th in the rankings. New Zealand opener Martin Guptill too has dropped down to 9th in the ODI batsmen rankings.

Shikhar Dhawan who is the leading runs scorer in the Champions Trophy 2017 with 271 runs in 3 matches has come into the top 10 batsmen. He will be hoping to perform well in the semi-finals and also finals if India qualifies.

While in the bowler’s rankings, Josh Hazlewood from Australia has become the new number 1 bowler in ODI cricket.
