Virat Kohli has provided insights into India’s triumphant campaign in the 2025 Champions Trophy. The 36-year-old emphasized that the Men in Blue capitalized on the tournament’s hybrid format by adapting to varying conditions better than their rivals, using Dubai as their temporary base.
Significantly, Rohit Sharma and his team secured a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the final, clinching their second consecutive ICC trophy. India had also defeated the Black Caps earlier in the group stage of the 50-over tournament, with both encounters taking place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
This victory marked a moment of redemption for India in Dubai, as they had previously suffered a group-stage exit in the 2021 T20 World Cup held in the UAE. Kohli, in particular, stepped up in high-pressure matches, registering an unbeaten 100 against Pakistan and an 84 in the semifinal against Australia.
Speaking at the RCB Innovation Lab (as reported by the Press Trust of India on X), the former India captain shared his thoughts on the triumph.
“We as a team adapted to the conditions better than others. Hence, won the Champions Trophy.”

“We applied lessons from past experiences this time”- Virat Kohli on India’s 2025 Champions Trophy victory
Virat Kohli commended Team India for learning from past failures in ICC tournaments, including the ODI and T20 World Cups, as well as the WTC finals. He said:
“It’s been a long time since we’ve had a Champions Trophy, and the format is really good. This was our aim. After a tough tour of Australia, we came here and won a big tournament, which has once again boosted our confidence as a team.”
“Throughout the tournament, different players stepped up in different matches. There were moments in past tournaments where we weren’t able to finish games or capitalize on crucial situations. But this time, we learned from those experiences,” he added.
