Virat Kohli says NO to multi-crore soft drink endorsement; Here is why

The men blue skipper Virat Kohli’s devotion to fitness has been a talking point for all the cricket fans for some time now. It has been learned that going by his ethics Kohli has turned down an offer to endorse a soft drink company. According to reports, Kohli has confirmed the news and said that it didn’t find a place in his resolute fitness schedule.

Earlier, the 28-year-old cricketer has refused to extend his six-year deal with the leading soft drink company Pepsi. Back then, while talking to CNN-IBN he said, “If I myself won’t consume such things, I won’t urge others to consume it, just because I am getting money out of it.”

When I started my fitness turnaround, it was more of a lifestyle thing initially. If something goes away from that, I would not want to be a part of that or be promoting that. We are actually on the cusp of making some big changes on that front. Things that I’ve endorsed in the past, I won’t take names, but something that I feel that I don’t connect to anymore,” he further mentioned.

Earlier Kohli had stated once he can’t demand something as a captain from his teammates which he cannot do at the first place. “I first convince myself I can do it and only then ask my teammates to go for it,” he concluded.

Almost a decade or two, current Indian badminton team coach, P. Gopi Chand also turned down such offer. He cited that he was into yoga, meditation, and strict diet and that he had pledged to not have the soft drink. This was in 2001 after he won All England Badminton Championship.
