Virat Kohli Shares 10-Year Old Tweet After Winning ICC Cricketer Of The Decade Award

India’s captain across formats Virat Kohli recently shared his 10-year-old tweet along with a thank you note after winning the ‘ICC Cricketer Of the decade award. The Run Machine from India was declared the winner ahead of the likes of Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and AB de Villiers. In his 11 years international career, the batsman scored 71 centuries in both tests and ODIs (43 ODI centuries and 27 Test centuries).

In the T20 format, Kohli finished as the highest run-scorer in T20 internationals with 2928 runs at an average of 50.48. He is just ahead of his limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma who has scored 2773 runs in the T20 format. With an average in excess of 50 across all formats, the cricketer of the decade was an indisputable pick.

The winner of the ICC awards was picked by a combination of fan polls, broadcasters, cricket legends and several cricket experts. Prior to announcing the Cricketer Of the decade, ICC announced the team of the decade for all three formats where Virat Kohli was the only player to find a place in all three format sides. Other than being a prolific run-scorer for India across all three formats, Kohli had played a pivotal role in India winning the 2011 World Cup in India and the 2013 Champions Trophy in England.

Virat Kohli Shares Tweet Posted 10 Years Back

Recently after winning the ICC Cricketer of the decade award, Virat Kohli quoted his tweeted from 10 years backdated 16th March 2010 which said “Looking forward to scoring lots of runs for my Team” and further wrote about his 10-year-old tweet,

“SHARING THIS TWEET I PUT OUT 10 YEARS AGO, WHICH WAS A HOPEFUL ONE, I’VE REALISED THROUGH THIS JOURNEY THAT IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND PLAY SPORT FOR THE RIGHT REASONS, NO DREAM IS TOO BIG TO ACHIEVE. REGARDLESS OF THE CHALLENGES AND OBSTACLES, YOU WILL KEEP MOVING FORWARD WITH THIS BELIEF AND SEE YOUR DREAMS TURN INTO REALITY. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.”

The winner of ICC Cricketer of the decade award is currently back home in India as he returned back after playing the Pink Ball Test at Adelaide Oval since he’s expecting the birth of his first child with wife Anushka Sharma.
