Workload has been a major concern in the game of cricket at present. The cricketers play across the year which takes a massive toll on their body and India skipper Virat Kohli is no exception. Besides, playing for his country, Kohli also leads Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is one of the busiest cricketers across the globe.

Cricketers from various teams are trying out different measures due to intensive workload to prolong their career. Many cricketers have retired from one format to play the other two. Most recently, legendary pacer from South Africa decided to give up on Test cricket to extend his limited-overs career. Recently, Australia’s David Warner also hinted at his retirement from the shorter formats.

Notably, Virat Kohli has also opted out from various series to manage his workload. But the talismanic run-scorer has no plan to retire from one format as of now. Instead, he wants to concentrate more on the next three years. Kohli also added that he might consider retirement from one format after three years from now.

“My mindset is on the bigger picture as I prepare myself for a rigorous three years from now and after that, we might have a different conversation,” Virat Kohli told the journalists when asked if he is having second thoughts about quitting at least one format after the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Despite that, Virat Kohli raised his voice once again about the workload management of the players which has become a serious issue in today’s time. He has also hinted at various periodic breaks from cricket to refresh himself as he has done before.

“It’s not a conversation you can hide away from in any manner. It is around eight years now that I have been playing 300 days a year, which includes travelling and practice sessions. And intensity is right up there all the time. It does take a toll on you,” Virat Kohli concluded.
