Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s 10-month old daughter, Vamika received a threat on social media after the batter supported his teammate Mohammad Shami. The pacer was targeted and subjected to religious abuse after India’s defeat against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
At the press conference, before the match against New Zealand, the Indian skipper condemned abuse targeted at Mohammad Shami. He backed the pace bowler, lashing out at the abusers.
Following Kohli’s press conference, the right-handed batter was criticized on social media for his stand. A Twitter user posted a rape threat to Virat Kohli’s daughter, Vamika. Many social media users including former cricketers have called out the abuser.
I still believe India is a best team its just a matter of having good time or bad time but abusing player's and their family is such a shame don't forget end of the day it's just a game of cricket.

Kohli and Anushka’s 10-month-old daughter is getting rape threats because he decided to stand by his Muslim teammate, call out bigotry, and say discrimination on the basis of religion is wrong.
A 10-month-old child.
This is the India that we let happen.

Attacking someone over religion is the most pathetic thing a human being can do: Virat Kohli
Condemning abuse directed at Mohammad Shami, Virat Kohli expressed that abusing someone over religion is pathetic. He added the abusers have no understanding of the effort the cricketers put in on the field. Kohli stated that he does not care about the abusers and stands behind his teammate. The Indian skipper said,
“To me attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing a human being can do. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion over what they feel about a certain situation, but I personally have never ever even thought of discriminating (against) anyone over their religion. That’s a very sacred and personal thing to every human being. People take out their frustrations because they obviously have no understanding of what we do as individuals. They have no understanding of how much effort we put on the field.”
“Honestly I don’t even want to waste one minute of my life to give attention to any of those people, and neither does Shami and neither does anyone else in the team. We stand by him fully. We are backing him 200 percent, and all those who are attacking him can come with more force if they want to. Our brotherhood, our friendship within the team cannot be shaken,” he further added.
