The former Indian explosive batsman Virender Sehwag has forwarded a two line resume to BCCI for Indian team coach. He was the mentor of Kings XI Punjab team in VIVO IPL 10 and has been used with the style of play of current Indian players.
It was a surprise for Committee of Administrators which was appointed by Supreme Court. The COA wanted that rules must be followed while applying for team India’s coach. He said that by using the term see the ball , hit the ball policy.
“Yes it is odd is what I will say, but beyond that I have nothing to say. I am not travelling with the team and you should get in touch with CEO Rahul Johri for further update,” the official said.
Apart from two greats of Indian Cricket Virender Sehwag and Kumble, SRH coach Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Dodda Ganesh, Lalchand Rajput had applied for India’s team coach job. Anil Kumble’s contract will come to an end after the ongoing Champions Trophy 2017.
“Sehwag being Sehwag has sent his application in two lines. There was no CV attached to it. We had to ask him to send his CV too along with his application. After all it will be the first time he is set to appear for the interview,” a source in the BCCI informed The Indian Express.
After sending out applications for India’s coach job, as Kumble contract comes to an end, Virender Sehwag was forced to send his resume. In the two lines resume sent by Sehwag, he talked about being the mentor of the Kings XI Punjab side and also are familiar with all players in the Indian team. Virender Sehwag is currently doing commentary in the Champions Trophy 2017 held in England.
Virender Sehwag has done wonders for Indian cricket becoming the first cricketer to score two triple centuries in test matches and also one of the cricketers to score double centuries in ODI cricket. He changed the style of play in test cricket. Now days cricket has become more exciting with batsmen dominating the ball.
The CAC committee members including Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman, would conduct interviews from London while Sehwag will be interviewed at skype. Virender Sehwag was asked to apply for India’s team coach job by general manager of the BCCI during an IPL game.
It will be interesting to see if Virender Sehwag would be selected as team India’s next coach.
