Aaqib Javed, who played 22 Tests and 163 ODIs for Pakistan has been brutally trolled on social media for his recent statement regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL). While it is no secret that the Indian T20 league is one of the biggest cricketing leagues, it also happens to be one of the biggest leagues across all sports. However, there have been a few critics of the IPL as well.

The former coach of the Pakistan Under-19 team recently tried to demean the biggest T20 league. In a recent interview, while praising the Pakistan Super League (PSL), he said that the IPL consists of ‘low-quality’ bowling.

The 49-year-old spoke very highly of Pakistan’s T20 league. As a matter of fact, he went on to call it the “most interesting league in the world”. He then compared the pitch conditions of both leagues.

“This [PSL] is the most interesting league in the world, if there are no interruptions due to Covid-19 or anything else, because of the nature of the pitches. For instance, Lahore’s pitch has some support for the bowlers, whereas you see higher scores in Karachi,” said Aaqib Javed while speaking to PTV Sports.

“On the other hand. If you look at IPL, there is only one type of cricket being played there due to extremely flat surfaces and low-quality bowling,” he added.

Meanwhile, the comments didn’t sit well with the fans, who took brutal digs at the former Pakistan cricketer on social media.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Aaqib Javed’s statement:
