Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman has put a lot of perspective into Virat Kohli’s captaincy saying that its a work in progress. These comments from the Indian legend comes a day before Virat Kohli will be leading his team in the first Test in Adelaide. India are the current champions of the Border-Gavaskar trophy and Kohli will need to play well in the first test to give India the maximum chance of retaining the trophy.

Taking to Cricket Connected on Star Sports, Laxman has opened up on his thoughts on Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

“I mentioned so many times, the intensity and the body language he shows when he’s on the field, whether he’s batting or fielding, I think he leads by example and that is so infectious,” Laxman shared his opinion.

Virat Kohli A Role-Model For Young Cricketers: VVS Laxman

He said that Virat Kohli is a role model for young cricketers but his captaincy needs to improve in two specific areas.

“There were certain times when I felt that he becomes little defensive, especially with his field changes. The second thing is chopping and changing the playing 11. With experience, I can say that any player, whether experienced or a newcomer, wants that stability, security, so that he can focus on performing to the best of his abilities for the team. That’s something which Virat Kohli can definitely improve on,” he pointed out.
