India and Pakistan players playing together in the same T20 league has been a dream that has been a far-fetched one for a long time now. The political tensions between the two countries have seen them play only in ICC events for more than a decade now.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram has reignited the entire debate once again in a recent interaction with ANI. He spoke about the possibilities of Indian players playing in the PSL and Pakistan players playing in the IPL.
Wasim Akram Wishes Indo-Pak Players Play Together In T20 Leagues
While Talking to ANI, Akram spoke about this possibility which has so far been a distant dream. The BCCI not allowing the Indian players to play in foreign T20 leagues has been a major point of discussion as well. The legendary seamer also urged everyone to keep politics out of the game and not let it hamper the sports.
“I have always believed that sports shouldn’t be a victim of politics but that is a government subject of both countries and it won’t be apt for me to say anything. But as you said in the question itself, yes IPL is one of the most competitive domestic leagues in the cricketing world and I wish Pakistan youngsters get to be a part of it and I also wish to see Indian players playing in PSL,” Wasim Akram told ANI.

Wasim Akram also highlighted the impact of T20 cricket in recent times. He pointed out at a major change that Test cricket has seen after the advent of T20 cricket. Incidentally, Wasim Akram was the bowling coach of KKR from 2010 to 2016 and a part of two IPL winning squads.
“And you can see the impact of T20 cricket in the longer format as well. Test matches are producing results frequently than it used to and that is a good sign for the game. When you are playing cricket with a variety of players, on different kinds of wickets and against different kinds of attack on a regular basis, your game is bound to show improvement, and we have seen that with all T20 Leagues in the world and in cricket as a whole,” Akram added.
