Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan, two former international cricket players, are well known for their witty and playful interactions on social media. Their lighthearted banter continued after England’s decisive 190-run victory over Sri Lanka in the second Test.

In the three-match series, England, captained by Ollie Pope, jumped out to an unassailable 2-0 lead while Sri Lanka found it difficult to score points consistently.

Former England captain Vaughan immediately made fun of Jaffer, who answered with his signature wit. Their online interactions have been characterized by their pleasant teasing, which serves to amuse viewers and highlight their camaraderie.

Test Cricket Needs To Be 2 Divisions – Michael Vaughan

For their subpar performance against England, the Dhananjaya de Silva-led squad has come under fire. Within days of each other, Sri Lanka has lost both of the current series’ Test matches. The International Cricket Council (ICC) received a novel suggestion from Michael Vaughan after the second Test.

There should be two divisions of six teams each for Test cricket, according to Vaughan. Money should be dispersed among countries more equally, the former England captain continued.

“Test cricket needs to be 2 Divisions of 6 ASAP .. and spread the wealth of the game more evenly across all countries .. 👍,” Vaughan wrote on X.

Conversely, Wasim Jaffer answered with the World Test Championship 2023–25 points table. Recalling that last month England was bottom of the table, the former Indian opener claimed Michael Vaughan had not shared the remarks.

“Timing is everything. And Michael is a wise man who understands that. That’s why he didn’t tweet this a month ago when WTC table looked like this 😉 #WTC25 #ENGvSL,” Wasim Jaffer wrote.

Notably, in the last two editions, England has failed to advance to the WTC final.
