Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer has wished Prithvi Shaw ahead of a selection headache in the Indian team. Currently, Shaw is training with the Indian squad in Sri Lanka ahead of their white-ball series against the hosts.

The Indian team in England has a problem to deal with. Ahead of their 5-match Test series against England, opener Shubman Gill was ruled out due to an injury. Since Mayank Agarwal and uncapped player Abhimanyu Easwaran are the only options, the team manager Girish Dongre wrote a formal email to the BCCI. He requested a couple of backup options in case of another injury.

Although the letter didn’t indicate a particular player to replace Gill, speculations were rife that it could be Prithvi Shaw. The BCCI though, are yet to reply and this is giving time to the internet memes to take full toll of the situation.

“Go well Prithvi Shaw” – Wasim Jaffer

One such meme was shared by Punjab Kings batting coach, Wasim Jaffer. Known for his sense of humor on Twitter, Jaffer tweeted a Bollywood meme involving actor Ajay Devgn. The veteran actor is seen balancing on two motorcycles, a situation similar to what Shaw finds himself in.

Meanwhile, Shaw is unfazed by the rumors going around the cricketing world. He is keen on performing well in Sri Lanka under head coach Rahul Dravid.

“There’s a special type of enjoyment playing under Rahul Dravid sir. As he is there, one will expect discipline in the dressing room. I’m looking ahead to the practice sessions with Rahul sir because I love to speak to him for hours. This tour, I just have to grab the opportunity,” he reckoned.

India will play a white-ball series against Sri Lanka starting from July 13. The series entails three ODI’s and as many T20I’s, and all of them will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
