Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore faced each other in Match 49 of IPL 2022. CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and opted to field first. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) posted a decent total of 173-8 in the first innings.

During the CSK run-chase, the cameras caught a beautiful moment. A girl in the stands proposed to her boyfriend, who was donning an RCB jersey, in front of the crowd at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. She put a ring on her partner’s finger before both of them hugged each other.

Incidentally, this is a trend in western countries with couples proposing to each other in the stands. Off-late, it has been a frequent thing in cricket matches as well. The couple was cheered by other fans as the camera panned onto them.

For RCB, Mahipal Lomror played a quickfire knock of 42 runs off 27 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Skipper Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar also made some valuable contributions with the bat. Dinesh Karthik finished the innings perfectly for Bangalore, collecting 16 runs in the last over. Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers for Chennai Super Kings, taking 3 wickets and conceding just 27 runs in his spell.

Chasing a big total, the defending champions got a good foundation with in-form Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway adding 54 runs for the first wicket. Just when it looked like the CSK openers will stage another record partnership, Shahbaz Ahmed provided the first breakthrough to RCB.

In the following over, Robin Uthappa too was sent back to the pavilion by Glenn Maxwell for one run. However, it didn’t dent Conway’s confidence as he brought his second consecutive fifty. But RCB managed to stage a comeback dismissing Ambati Rayudu and Conway in quick succession to have the Chennai franchise at 109/4.

It will require a monumental effort from Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja to chase down the total and keep CSK in contention for the playoffs.
