Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane has resumed training as he prepares to captain Mumbai in their upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Jammu & Kashmir, scheduled to begin on January 23.
Rahane last featured in the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he delivered an exceptional performance, emerging as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 469 runs in eight innings at an impressive average of 58.62, including five half-centuries.
The 36-year-old was awarded Player of the Tournament honors as Mumbai clinched the championship by defeating Madhya Pradesh in the final. Ahead of the second phase of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy, set to start on January 23, Rahane returned to training and shared a video of his net session on Instagram.
He captioned the post:

Defending champions Mumbai currently sit third in the Group A standings with 22 points, having secured victory in three of their five matches. Ajinkya Rahane had a subdued performance in the first leg, managing just 174 runs across seven innings, with his best score being an unbeaten 48.
For their next match, Mumbai will gain a significant boost with the return of India’s Test and ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, who will participate in the esteemed domestic tournament for the first time since 2015.
Ajinkya Rahane Crosses 5,000 Test Runs Milestone for India
Ajinkya Rahane made his Test debut for India against Australia in New Delhi in 2013. Since then, he has played 85 Tests, scoring 5,077 runs at an average of 38.46, including 26 half-centuries and 12 centuries.
His last Test appearance for India was against the West Indies in 2023. Rahane has also led the Indian team in six Tests, securing four wins and two draws. In white-ball cricket, the Mumbai batter has amassed 3,337 runs in 110 matches, with 25 half-centuries and three centuries to his name.
