Mumbai batter Ajinkya Rahane maintained his stellar form in the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) quarterfinal against Vidarbha in Bengaluru on Wednesday, December 11. The right-hander hammered 84 off 45 balls, featuring three sixes and 10 boundaries.

Rahane’s impressive knock continues his stellar form in the T20 tournament, having recently smashed 95 off 54 balls against Andhra. The 36-year-old is currently among the top four run-scorers in the competition, amassing 334 runs in seven games (six innings), including four half-centuries.
Ajinkya Rahane was recently acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at his base price in the IPL 2025 auction and is now a strong contender to captain the franchise next season. He returns to Eden Gardens after being part of the Knight Riders in the 2022 edition of the league.
Rahane has accumulated 4642 runs in 185 IPL games, including two centuries and 30 half-centuries. Last season, he scored 242 runs in 13 matches for Chennai Super Kings at a strike rate of 123.46. In T20s overall, he has 6717 runs in 269 games, featuring two tons and 47 fifties.
The veteran batter will now look to shine in the playoffs as Mumbai chase the title. His next challenge will be against Baroda in the SMAT semifinal in Bengaluru on Friday, December 13.

Ajinkya Rahane’s innings guided Mumbai to a six-wicket victory over Vidarbha in the SMAT quarterfinal. Prithvi Shaw contributed 49 off 36 balls, including four sixes and five boundaries.
Shivam Dube (37* off 22) and Shreyansh Shedge (36* off 12) finished the chase in style as Mumbai successfully pursued the 222-run target. For Vidarbha, Dipesh Parwani impressed with two wickets.
Earlier, Vidarbha posted 221/6, with Atharva Taide (66 off 41) and A Wankhede (51 off 33) leading the charge. Shubham Dubey added a quick-fire 43* off 19. Mumbai’s Atharva Vinod Ankolekar and Suryansh Shedge took two wickets each.
