The Indian Women’s cricket team achieved a historic milestone by claiming their first Test triumph against Australia, winning by eight wickets in the one-off Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on December 24.
On Day 4, India showcased an exceptional performance, taking the remaining five Australian wickets for only 28 runs and effortlessly chased down the 75-run target.
After the game, Australian captain Alyssa Healy touched hearts with her delightful act towards the Indian team. She was observed capturing pictures of the Indian players celebrating with the trophy.

In India’s innings, Deepti Sharma (78), Smriti Mandhana (74), Jemimah Rodrigues (73), and Richa Ghosh (52) all played excellent innings, contributing to the team’s notable total of 406. Sneh Rana stood out as the best bowler, securing seven wickets.

Harmanpreet Kaur commended the team’s support staff after India’s significant Test win in Mumbai. She also mentioned the team’s strategy, emphasizing a positive approach for the red-ball match.
Addressing the post-match presentation, Kaur mentioned:
“It’s a reward for all the hard work we have done for so many years. Credit goes to all our support staff, especially our bowling coach and batting coach. We tried to keep things very simple. It’s a reward for all the hard work and all the patience.”
“We thought if we can play some positive cricket, it can really help us. We have been playing with this bunch for so many years and if we could do shuffle a bit here and there.”
The 34-year-old expressed gratitude to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the opportunity and expressed hope that India would have more chances to play Test matches in the future, stating:
“Firstly I want to thank BCCI for giving us this opportunity and secondly all our selectors – they have given us the best side and shown the trust on each and every member.”
“When everything works together, you get positive results. Hopefully we’ll get many more Test games in upcoming years. Thanks to the crowd. Everything went really well for us.”
Sneh Rana received the Player of the Match award for her outstanding bowling performance in the Test.
