In this year’s Caribbean Premier League, we have witnessed a whole load of things. From Andre Russell playing slowest of the slowest knocks to fights between players. This CPL season has been the one to talk about among all others.
Also, not to forget the number of low scoring games we have been witnessing ever since the tournament started a couple of weeks back. This tournament holds special importance for the IPL franchises since some players would directly go on to play in the IPL this year.
So after a string of low scores, Russell seems to have got his form back as he smashed a blistering 54 off 28 against Barbados Tridents. This knock came in for him batting at 4 for the Jamaica Tallawahs. But in the period of that valuable knock, Dre Russ had a lucky escape as he was almost cleaned by the Afghanisthan spinner Rashid Khan.
Andre Russell imitates Rashid Khan
To everyone’s surprise, the ball hit the bails but didn’t leave the stumps, which is why Russell was ruled not out. All players were left into a split to watch the lucky escape Andre Russell went through. To add to that, Russell was seen imitating Rashid’s celebration in a little banter. As we all know how Rashid celebrates spreading his hands while running, Russell imitated the exact same celebration.

Meanwhile, so far in the tournament, Trinbago Knight Riders have had an undisputed run this season. The Venky Mysore-owned franchise hasn’t lost a single game in the 9 games they’ve played this season. A lot of the credit goes to Kieron Pollard who has led the side well, with the support of Dwayne Bravo. Both of them will turn up as rivals for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL in a couple of weeks time.
