Team India scripted history by defeating England in the final of the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup on Sunday, January 29 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. Archana Devi was one of the star players for the team in the final. She played a key role as India bowled England out for a paltry 68. Her catch to dismiss Ryana MacDonald Gay was one of the highlights of the game.

Ryana MacDonald Gay came to bat after the fall of the third wicket for England. She tried to steady the innings, but wickets kept falling from the other end. Finally, Ryana was also dismissed for 19 runs, in the twelfth over. Parshavi Chopra a full delivery, which the English batter tried to play to the off-side, but instead ended up chipping the ball off the toe end of the bat. The ball looped low and went to the right of the extra cover fielder. Archana Devi who was positioned there took a great one-handed catch.

The players have been backing me a lot. Thanks to BCCI for giving me this beautiful team and really happy for winning the cup. She (Shweta Sehrawat) has been excellent and has followed all the plans from the staff. Not just her, Archana, Soumya and I can’t really take the names but they all have been incredible. No, definitely not (when asked if this is the only Cup she’s gonna pick up this season in South Africa).”
