PBKS’s opening bowler, Arshdeep Singh, made a crucial breakthrough by dismissing two key SunRisers Hyderabad batters in the same over in the ongoing IPL 2024 match in Mullanpur. Singh, a left-arm seamer, removed Travis Head and Aiden Markram on Tuesday, April 9.

The breakthroughs occurred in the fourth over of the innings, following a close run-out chance for Abhishek Sharma. Travis Head attempted to attack a full delivery from Singh but only managed to edge it, resulting in a superb catch by Shikhar Dhawan at mid-off.

Markram, on the other hand, faced just one delivery before edging one to Jitesh Sharma behind the stumps. Arshdeep had an impressive first over, where Abhishek Sharma survived two close calls and conceded only six runs. Earlier, Punjab Kings elected to field first after Dhawan won the toss, opting to maintain the same lineup as before.

PBKS didn’t review a caught-behind chance against Travis Head on the first ball

Head, who scored a half-century in his debut for SunRisers Hyderabad, nicked the first delivery of the innings from Kagiso Rabada. While Jitesh Sharma appealed for a catch, there was not strong support from other PBKS players, including the bowler.

In his next over, the Australian left-hander pressured Rabada by hitting three consecutive boundaries. However, Arshdeep dismissed Head, who scored 21 runs off 15 balls.

Punjab Kings are entering the game after a convincing victory over the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, where they successfully chased down 200 runs thanks to outstanding performances from Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma.

In their previous match at home, led by Pat Cummins, the SunRisers secured a win against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram played pivotal roles with the bat, contributing to a six-wicket victory for the SunRisers.
