The three-match One-day international series between Australia and England kicked off at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on November 17, 2022. Australia’s newly appointed Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to field first.

It was an ideal start for the hosts as Mitchell Starc produced a stunning delivery to dismiss Jason Roy. Cummins then followed with a beauty to dismiss Phil Salt leaving England in trouble. He then got rid of James Vince putting the England team under pressure.

Dawid Malan and Sam Billings steadied the ship for England before Marcus Stoinis stunned Billings with another beauty to leave visitors in big trouble. Jos Buttler and Dawid Malan showed intent in putting pressure on Australian bowlers. Zampa provided the breakthrough getting rid of Buttler with an easy catch to Ashton Agar.

Liam Dawson and Malan put up another important partnership before Ashton Agar produced a direct hit to dismiss Liam Dawson to end 40 runs stand for the sixth wicket leaving England in trouble at 158 for 6. David Willey also scored vital runs with a well-made 34 along with Luke Wood putting up important runs. England recovered from 158 for 6 to 287 for 9 in 50 overs. Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa grabbed three wickets each for Australia while Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis took 1 wicket each. Marcus Stoinis went off the field due to an injury to his hand.

Ashton Agar struggled with his rhythm giving away 62 runs in his 10 overs without picking any wickets. Pat Cummins would be hoping that Australian batters chase down the target of 288 runs with David Warner, Travis Head, and others against an inexperienced England bowling attack.
