Watch – Asif Ali Recounts The Story Of His Affection For An Old Yamaha Motorcycle

As Pakistani batter Asif Ali’s name is doing rounds in the cricketing fraternity after his heroics in the T20 World Cup 2021, one of his old interview clips has gone viral on the internet where he can be seen talking about his love for bikes.

Pakistan journalist Shiraz Hassan shared the video on the microblogging site Twitter. In the video, Asif recalls the time when he was selected to play for the Faisalabad team in one of the domestic tournaments for the first time. However, he did not get a chance in the playing XI.

In that tournament, his team finished second and he got a Rs 55,000 cheque as prize money.

Asif Ali said he had never seen that much money in his life as, during those times, his salary used to be just Rs 5,000. He said that he slept with the cheque in his pocket, to ensure that it doesn’t get lost. The Pakistani cricketer eventually used that money to buy a brand new Honda 125 bike worth Rs. 50,000.

The Old Yamaha Bike

Asif Ali also talked about the love he had for an old, second-hand Yamaha bike. Asif recalled that he had returned to his home after playing a cricket tournament and was looking for the bike, but wasn’t able to find it.

So then he enquired his elder brother and he revealed that he has sold the motorbike to a scrap dealer for Rs. 5000 since it was not in working condition. Asif said he was heartbroken after that because the bike was with him and his family during very difficult times.

He also described how, when his grandfather had bought that bike during his days, it was a really big deal. People from other towns used to gather around to see the Yamaha motorcycle which was owned by Asif’s family.
