[WATCH] Avesh Khan Marks Tilak Varma’s Century With His Distinctive ‘Samaira Celebration’ In The 2024 Duleep Trophy

After a disappointing performance in the first innings, Tilak Varma regained his form with a superb century in the second innings for India A on Day 3 of their 2024 Duleep Trophy match against India D on Saturday, September 14. The match is held at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.

Tilak reached this milestone on the second ball of the 94th over by guiding a delivery from Saransh Jain past the slip fielder to the third-man region for two runs. The 21-year-old was visibly pleased as his teammates cheered from the dressing room, with Avesh Khan performing Tilak’s signature ‘Samaira Celebration.’

At tea on Day 3, India A was positioned at 370/3 after 96 overs, with Tilak Varma (104) and Shashwat Rawat (61) batting, holding a lead of 477 runs.

Centuries from Pratham Singh and Tilak Varma allowed India A to build a significant lead

Following a 107-run lead in the first innings, the India A batters have maintained their strong performance in the second innings. Captain Mayank Agarwal and Pratham Singh set a strong foundation with a notable 115-run opening stand off 169 deliveries. Agarwal was dismissed for a solid 56 off 87 balls by Shreyas Iyer.

Pratham Singh then partnered with Tilak Varma to establish another century stand, during which Pratham reached his own century. The left-handed Pratham scored 122 off 189 balls, featuring 12 boundaries and one six.

Riyan Parag had a modest outing, making 20 off 31 balls. Since then, Tilak and Shashwat Rawat have formed an unbeaten 106-run partnership, aiming to extend the lead well beyond 500 runs.

Earlier, India D managed only 183 runs in their first innings, with Devdutt Padikkal leading the score with 92. Khaleel Ahmed and Aaqib Khan each took three wickets for India A.
