[WATCH]- Ayush Badoni Sets A New Record For The Most Sixes In A T20 Match In The Delhi Premier League 2024

In the match of Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 at Arun Jaitley Stadium against North Delhi Strikers, South Delhi Superstar captain Ayush Badoni was a star with his outstanding willow mauling on Saturday, August 31st. For an opening right-handed batsman who has scored 165 runs in just 55 balls, he truly did rock the world.

Sarthak Ray opened the batting but was out for just 11 runs which meant that Badoni had to come in at number three. He battered all bowlers with reckless abandon as he entertained fans with big hits throughout his innings. There were 19 sixes and eight fours resulting in a phenomenal strike rate of 300.

In doing so, Badoni broke Chris Gayle’s previous record of 18 sixes in any T20 match that he had set by hitting this many during one playoff game played in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) back in December 2017

Badoni presently holds the Indian batsman record for most runs scored by one player in T20s; this beats Shreyas Iyer’s 147 runs off 55 balls he scored against Sikkim in February 2019.

Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya’s centuries propel South Delhi Superstarz to a huge 308-run total against North Delhi Strikers

In the afternoon tie against North Delhi Strikers, South Delhi Superstarz won the toss and opted to bat first. Opening batter Priyansh Arya made a blistering century while Ayush Badoni amassed 165 runs.

Hitting 10 sixes and as many fours, Arya raked in 120 runs off just 50 balls. The 12th over was pure madness as he struck six sixes off left-arm spinner Manan Bhardwaj’s bowling.

The duo’s batting feats saw them lead their side to 308/5 in 20 overs, a record for this year’s inaugural edition of DPL 2024. Only Pranshu Vijayran was able to maintain an economy rate below 10 with figures of 4-0-39-2.

Currently occupying the second position on the points table with five wins from their initial matches, South Delhi Superstarz is headed by Ayush Badoni. North Delhi Strikers are lying third with three victories out of seven games played so far.
