India lost two wickets early on Day 3 and Rohit Sharma was the second wicket to fall in the first 15 minutes of play. India started the day on 54/1 and lost two wickets inside two runs. Cheteshwar Pujara was the first wicket to fall and immediately in the next over Rohit Sharma was dismissed as well.
Jack Leach bowled the delivery on the leg stump which turned sharply and Ben Foakes completed the stumping from behind the wicket. The ball gave pretty early signs that the pitch will deteriorate further if any.

Ben Foakes was critical behind both the dismissals on the third day’s play. First, he ran out Pujara and then affected a crucial stumping to get Rohit Sharma dismissed. This happened after he top-scored for England scoring an unbeaten 42 with the bat.
The Chennai Pitch became the talking point on day 2 of the second Test as 15 wickets fell on the day’s play. England lost 10 wickets while India lost five as Ravichandran Ashwin took his 29th five wicket-haul to put India in control at the end of the day’s play. India are leading by 250 runs in the second innings as they have the game well under control, despite losing the two wickets. Meanwhile, former England skipper Michael Vaughan criticised the pitch for the way it played out on the second day especially.
