MS Dhoni, 44, recently made headlines for filing a trademark application for his popular nickname “Captain Cool.” As per Live Law, the application, initially submitted in June 2023, was “accepted and advertised” by the Kolkata branch of the Trademarks Registry in June 2025.
The trademark was officially published in the journal on June 16, 2025, triggering a 120-day period during which objections can be raised. If no opposition is received within that time, the trademark will be formally registered.
Filed under Class 41, the trademark applies to services such as education, training, entertainment, and cultural or sporting activities. Dhoni is aiming to secure exclusive rights to the “Captain Cool” title specifically in the field of sports training and coaching.
