For those unaware, Team India’s women’s side is chasing its first-ever ODI World Cup title. After falling short in the finals against Australia in 2005 and England in 2017, the Women in Blue will be eager to make it third time lucky. Recently, they showcased remarkable form by defeating defending champions Australia by five wickets, successfully chasing a record 339-run target, the highest ever in a women’s World Cup knockout match.

India Post 299-Run Target For South Africa In Women’s World Cup 2025 Final

Harmanpreet Kaur’s Team India put up a strong total of 298/7 against South Africa after being asked to bat first in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final. Opener Shafali Verma was the star performer, smashing 87 runs off 78 balls, which included two sixes and seven fours. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana added valuable support with a steady 45 off 58 deliveries, striking eight boundaries. Together, the pair stitched a crucial 104-run opening stand.

In the middle order, Jemimah Rodrigues (24 off 37), skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (20 off 29), and Amanjot Kaur (12 off 14) added useful contributions. Towards the end, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh provided late fireworks, Deepti scoring a run-a-ball 58 with one six and three fours, while Richa hammered 34 off just 24 balls, featuring two sixes and three fours.

For South Africa, Ayabonka Khakha was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/58. The Proteas, who crushed England by 125 runs in the semifinal and earlier edged past India by three wickets in the group stage, are also aiming for their first-ever World Cup title — just like the Women in Blue.
