[WATCH]- CSK Joyfully Celebrate Their Overseas Star’s Birthday Ahead Of IPL 2025 Clash Against PBKS

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad celebrated Dewald Brevis’ 22nd birthday with great enthusiasm ahead of their IPL 2025 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Chepauk on Tuesday, April 29. A video shared on the franchise’s official social media handle captured the fun moment, with players playfully smearing cake on Brevis’ face and shirt.

The South African youngster, who previously represented Mumbai Indians from 2022 to 2024, was signed by CSK as an injury replacement for left-arm pacer Gurjanpreet Singh.

Dewald Brevis impressed with a quickfire 42 off 25 balls against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), smashing three sixes in an over off Kamindu Mendis and showcasing his potential as a long-term asset for the team.

However, Brevis’ knock went in vain as the SunRisers successfully chased down the 155-run target set by the Super Kings, winning with five wickets in hand and eight balls remaining.

CSK will be eliminated from the playoff race if they lose to Punjab Kings

CSK will be officially eliminated from the playoff race if they lose to Punjab Kings at Chepauk on Wednesday. With only two wins from nine matches, the five-time champions’ campaign is hanging by a thread. Once dominant at Chepauk, CSK have suffered four losses at the venue this year, with SunRisers, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru all claiming victories.

Even if CSK manage to beat Punjab Kings on Wednesday, they will need numerous other results to go in their favor if they are to have a shot at the title this season. Punjab, led by Shreyas Iyer, are coming off a washout against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens and sit fifth in the standings. They had earlier defeated Chennai by 18 runs in Mullanpur this season.
