[WATCH]- Faf Du Plessis Tumbles Over The Advertising Board During The 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 League

South African batter Faf du Plessis recently tumbled over an advertising board while playing in the Abu Dhabi T10 League but fortunately escaped uninjured. The incident took place on the final ball of the eighth over. Representing Morrisville Samp Army against Delhi Bulls on November 26, Du Plessis sprinted to the boundary to stop a Tim David shot.

However, he failed to notice the ball boy crouched nearby, collecting the ball. To avoid a collision, Du Plessis leapt over the board and landed on the grass banks. Thankfully, the 40-year-old quickly got back on his feet and continued fielding. You can watch the video here:

Earlier in the game, Faf du Plessis contributed 11 runs off five balls as an opener for his side. Morrisville Samp Army eventually edged out the Delhi Bulls by two runs, securing their fifth consecutive win in the tournament.

Faf du Plessis joins Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 Auction

Delhi Capitals become Du Plessis’ fourth IPL team, following his stints with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rising Pune Supergiant (RPSG), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The South African was previously the RCB skipper, leading the team to two playoff appearances and excelling as a consistent run-scorer.

In the recently concluded IPL 2025 mega auction, Faf du Plessis was acquired by the Delhi Capitals (DC) for ₹2 crore, his base price, during the Capped Batters Set 2.  Faf du Plessis’ price decreased from ₹7 crore in IPL 2024 (retained by RCB) to ₹2 crore in IPL 2025 (bought by DC at his base price), marking a ₹5 crore drop.

Faf du Plessis had a moderate IPL 2024 season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was retained for ₹7 crore ahead of the season. As a batter, Du Plessis managed to score 391 runs in 14 matches at an average of 30.08 and a strike rate of 133.62. His performance included two half-centuries, with a top score of 68 runs
