Delhi fans packed the Arun Jaitley Stadium on January 31 to welcome Virat Kohli back to the Ranji Trophy competition after his 12-year absence. The fans quickly lost their joyful expectations when India’s legendary cricketer scored only six runs from his 15-ball innings.

While batting at position four for Delhi against the Railways in an Elite Group D match, Kohli managed a single boundary before getting out quickly. The match came to an end for Kohli when Himanshu Sangwan struck his stumps in the 28th over of the inning.

A four from Kohli during the preceding delivery proved to be the turning point before Sangwan bowled him out. A Railways pacer got past Kohli’s defensive position and bowled out his stumps, which shocked the spectators into quietness.

The match ended on a negative note following Kohli’s highly anticipated Ranji Trophy return. When Kohli’s dismissal became known to spectators, numerous fans left the stadium because his much-anticipated batting performance had ended prematurely.
