Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir and senior batter Rohit Sharma were seen sharing a cheerful moment on the balcony at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London ahead of the third and final ODI against England, set to be played on Sunday, July 19. India began the three-match series on a positive note with a six-wicket win in Birmingham while chasing 259.
However, England responded strongly in the second ODI at Cardiff, securing a four-wicket victory to level the series after chasing 234. With the decider set to take place at the iconic Lord’s, Gambhir and Rohit were spotted in a relaxed mood, sharing laughs with members of the support staff before the high-stakes clash.

India have not won an ODI at Lord’s in over two decades, with their last victory at the historic venue coming in 2004. Since then, the Men in Blue have played four ODIs there, suffering three defeats, while one match ended in a tie. They will now be looking to end that winless run and seal the three-match series 2-1 with a victory in the decider.
“Rohit Brings Calmness to the Batting Line-Up”- India Coach’s Strong Backing
Rohit Sharma has endured a disappointing series so far, managing 37 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 54.41. With the veteran opener facing criticism over his form and ongoing speculation about his future, India bowling coach Morne Morkel came out in his support during the pre-match press conference on July 18.
Morkel said Rohit brings a sense of calm to the batting unit and expressed confidence that the experienced opener would find a way to bounce back. He said (via News18):
“No doubt Rohit will work it out. He has done it in the past, drawing on his experience. And he just brings that calmness to the batting line-up. So, without a doubt, no worries and concerns at all with the way he is going about things.”
