A video has surfaced on social media showing Team India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, performing shadow practice in the dressing room amid the team’s batting struggles in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Gambhir, the former India batter, has faced criticism since the Test team suffered a 3-0 defeat to New Zealand at home.
India began the 2024-25 BGT with a strong performance, winning the first Test in Perth by 295 runs, their largest Test victory in Australia. However, Australia made a strong comeback, winning the pink-ball Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets, and has dominated the current Brisbane Test.
After posting 445 in their first innings, Australia reduced India to 51-4 by stumps on Day 3. In the video shared on X, Gambhir is seen practicing shadow batting in the dressing room. The team’s continued batting failures have led to growing scrutiny of the head coach and his support staff.

Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali has made a startling claim that Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir are not in agreement. He shared this remark on his YouTube channel:
“Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are not on the same page, be it the one-day tournament in Sri Lanka; Bangladesh, which was a weak series; or the New Zealand series after that. In the second and third (Tests), they (Rohit and Gambhir) are not on the same page, like Rahul Dravid was. He and Rohit were on the same page.”
Gambhir became the head coach of the Indian team after Rahul Dravid’s tenure ended following India’s victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, held in the West Indies and the USA.
