Head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen in a serious conversation with out-of-form India batter Abhishek Sharma ahead of their T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 encounter against Zimbabwe. The fixture is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The squad reached Chennai on Monday, February 23, in preparation for the crucial clash. Gambhir and Abhishek were seated next to each other at the front of the team bus, where the coach appeared to be engaged in a focused discussion with the opener.
Gautam Gambhir was also seen speaking with assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, who was sitting just behind them, and later joined the conversation as well. You can watch the video here:

Abhishek Sharma has endured a tough run in the T20 World Cup 2026, managing three successive ducks during the group stage. The left-hander finally opened his account in India’s first Super 8 clash against South Africa, but his innings was brief as he departed for 15 off 12 balls.
The talented batter will now be keen to rediscover his touch and deliver impactful performances in the remaining matches.

India’s unbeaten streak in the T20 World Cup 2026 was halted after they endured a massive defeat in their opening Super 8 encounter against South Africa. The Proteas handed them a humiliating 76-run loss in Ahmedabad. Batting first, South Africa registered an imposing 187/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
The Men in Blue completely faltered in the run chase and failed to show any resistance. They lost three wickets during the powerplay and crumbled under mounting pressure, eventually being bowled out for a mere 111 in 18.5 overs.
Team India now find themselves under serious pressure and must win both of their remaining Super 8 fixtures to remain in contention for a semifinal berth. After taking on Zimbabwe, they will meet the West Indies in their last Super 8 match on Sunday, March 1, at the Eden Gardens.
