[WATCH]- Georgia Wareham Prevents A Definite Six In The WPL 2024 Match Between RCBW And DCW

Australia’s Georgia Wareham made a remarkable save in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) match between Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCBW) and Delhi Capitals Women (DCW) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday, February 29.

The exceptional moment occurred in the 11th over of DCW’s innings. Sophie Molineux delivered a pitched-up ball, and Shafali Verma struck it towards the mid-wicket boundary.

Wareham executed a mid-air catch, threw the ball inside the boundary ropes, and managed to prevent four runs for her team despite the momentum carrying her beyond the boundary cushion.

The crowd erupted in cheers, and the dugout stood up to applaud her. RCBW captain Smriti Mandhana expressed her joy at the fielding display and joined in the applause to acknowledge the extraordinary effort. You can watch the video here:

DCW establishes a target of 195 runs for RCBW in the WPL 2024 match

In the WPL 2024 clash on Thursday, the Delhi Capitals Women set a target of 195/5 in their allotted 20 overs after being instructed to bat first by the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women.

Shafali Verma led the scoring with 50 runs off 31 balls, including four sixes and three boundaries.  Alice Capsey contributed 46 runs from 33 deliveries, featuring two sixes and four boundaries.

The final push came from Marizanne Kapp (32 off 16) and Jess Jonassen (36 off 16). Sophie Devine and Nadine de Klerk excelled with the ball for RCBW, each securing two wickets, while Shreyanka Patil claimed one wicket.

In reply, RCBW reached 147/3 in 16.4 overs, with Sabbhineni Meghana and Georgia Wareham on the field. Captain Mandhana was the final batter to be dismissed, bowled out by Kapp.

She played an impressive innings, scoring 74 off 43 balls, featuring three sixes and 10 boundaries. Sophie Devine and Richa Ghosh added 23 (17) and 19 (13) respectively. The pair combined for a strong 77-run partnership for the opening wicket.
