Kings XI Punjab saw another spectacular effort on the field, this time a tag-team effort from Glenn Maxwell and Jimmy Neesham to get rid of Rohit Sharma. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians skipper was looking for a big score after becoming the third IPL batsmen to score 5000 runs.

Kings XI Punjab skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to field first on a new Dubai wicket and Sheldon Cottrell rewarded him with an early wicket. He bowled a gem of a delivery to rattle Quinton de Kock’s timber to give Punjab stead ahead.

Since then, Rohit Sharma took control of one end while others struggled to get going. Ishan Kishan found it really difficult to get going after his 99-run knock in the last game. He struggled with his timing and looked like carrying a slight niggle on his hamstring.

It didn’t had any impact as Rohit Sharma looked in complete control of the things. In the process, he also brought his 38th IPL half-century as he aimed to take Mumbai Indians to a challenging total.

However, a tag-team effort by Glenn Maxwell and Jimmy Neesham helped Kings XI Punjab get rid of the Hitman. Maxwell did all the hard work there, but Neesham makes sure that his effort isn’t in vain. It was lofted towards long-off by Rohit as Maxwell grabbed it and just when he was about to overhaul the boundary, he lobbed it to Neesham who was charging across from long-on.

Meanwhile, Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya ran a carnage in the death overs to post 191 runs in the board. Pollard remained unbeaten for 47 off 20 deliveries while Hardik chipped in with 30 off 11 as Kings XI Punjab’s death bowling was once again left exposed.

It will now require a monument effort from KL Rahul & Co to chase down the target and secure a spot in the top half of the points table.
