[WATCH]: “Got An Opening At Bengaluru FC?” – KL Rahul Impresses DC Co-Owner With His Football Skills

Senior Team India batter KL Rahul is set to represent the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2025 IPL season. The 32-year-old was acquired by the franchise for ₹14 crore during the IPL 2025 auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Rahul playfully hinted at his interest in joining Bengaluru FC, an Indian Super League team owned by DC co-owner Parth Jindal (JSW Group). He posted a video showcasing his football skills during the first Test of the ongoing 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia and humorously asked:

“@parthjindal got an opening at Bengaluru FC?”

After captaining the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for three seasons, KL Rahul parted ways with the franchise. At the IPL 2025 auction, apart from Delhi Capitals (DC), teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also showed interest in signing the right-handed batter.

On the international front, Rahul played a pivotal role in India’s commanding 295-run victory in the opening Test against Australia in Perth. He contributed 26 runs off 74 balls in the first innings and followed it up with an impressive 77-run knock in the second.

“He’s thrilled and excited to join Delhi”- Parth Jindal on KL Rahul

DC co-owner Parth Jindal shared that KL Rahul is excited to join Delhi and aims to win their first IPL title. He also mentioned attending Bengaluru FC matches with Rahul and his bond with Athiya Shetty. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Jindal said:

“He’s very happy, very excited to be part of Delhi. He knows me for a long time. He’s a Bangalore (Bengaluru) boy. I own Bengaluru FC (in the Indian Super League), so he’s watched a few games with me. I know his wife Athiya (Shetty) really well. She’s been a close family friend growing up in Mumbai.”

“So he (Rahul) was like, “I just want to play cricket. I just want to get the love and support from the franchise. And I just want to get the respect and I know Parth from you, I will get that and just can’t be more excited to play for a friend and let’s make Delhi win. I have never won (IPL). Delhi has never won. Let’s do it together,” he added.
