During Saturday’s (April 27) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya became visibly agitated while playing against Delhi Capitals (DC). In a video, Pandya appeared upset after the 10th over despite Mohammad Nabi’s economical over, which only yielded four runs and included the dismissal of Abishek Porel. Despite this, DC reached 128/2 after 10 overs.

The all-rounder seemed dissatisfied with the bowling performance. Pandya finished the match without taking any wickets and conceded 41 runs. He bowled the fifth and seventh overs, giving away 20 and 21 runs, respectively.

For those unaware, Hardik Pandya hasn’t performed well as the MI captain this season, and the fans haven’t been supportive either since he took over from Rohit Sharma. The five-time IPL champions are currently in ninth place on the points table with three wins in eight matches. The 30-year-old has only taken four wickets in nine innings and scored 151 runs in eight innings. He’ll be aiming to improve as MI strives to make it to the playoffs.

DC post a target of 258 runs for MI

In an IPL match on Saturday, DC posted a formidable total of 257/4, courtesy of an impressive batting performance by Jake Fraser-McGurk. Fraser-McGurk scored 84 runs off 27 balls, including six sixes and 11 boundaries. He formed a solid opening partnership of 114 runs with Abishek Porel. Tristan Stubbs also contributed with an unbeaten 48 off 25 deliveries, hitting two sixes and six boundaries.

Shai Hope, Abishek Porel, and Rishabh Pant added valuable runs with scores of 41 (17), 36 (27), and 29 (19) respectively. Luke Wood, Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla, and Mohammed Nabi each took a wicket for MI. DC aim to maintain its winning streak following a thrilling four-run victory over Gujarat Titans. They are also eager to seek revenge for their earlier 29-run loss to MI this season.

Meanwhile, MI seeks to bounce back from a nine-wicket defeat to Rajasthan Royals and draw inspiration from Punjab Kings’ successful 262-run chase against Kolkata Knight Riders on Friday.
