[WATCH]- Hardik Pandya Practices With The Red Ball Before The IND vs BAN 2024 Series

Hardik Pandya, Team India‘s star all-rounder, has begun preparing for the Men in Blue’s upcoming three-match home T20I series against Bangladesh. The 30-year-old was recently observed practicing his bowling to get ready for the games.

India and Bangladesh will commence their T20I series at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior on October 6. Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi will host the second (October 9) and Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad will see action for the third match (October 12).

Interestingly enough, during practice sessions Hardik even bowled with red ball. Due to some injury issues he has been playing mostly limited-overs cricket lately. He isn’t playing in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 either.

His last Test match appearance was against England in 2018. Whether or not Hardik is making plans to return back to red-ball cricket is still a question mark. You can watch the video here:

Rohit Sharma’s retirement from T20I after the 2024 T20 World Cup made Hardik Pandya a frontrunner for India’s T20I captaincy. But the team management considered someone else for the leader’s role and entrusted it upon Suryakumar Yadav.

“There should be an attempt” –When Sunil Gavaskar urged the Indian management to persuade Hardik Pandya to play Test cricket

In a conversation with Revsportz, the Indian batting great Gavaskar said that Hardik Pandya should make a comeback to test cricket during the current World Test Championship (WTC) period.

The veteran cricketer turned commentator told Hardik’s entering into the team will enable India win another series in Australia thereby earning them their first ever WTC title. This was said on July:

“Yes, absolutely, they can. I think in the next two months, there should be an attempt to convince Hardik Pandya to play Test cricket. If he bowls ten overs a day to go with his batting, this Indian team could become invincible, and they can surely go on and win the WTC and beat Australia in Australia.”

Later this year, India is scheduled to go for a tour of Australia for Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. The first match in this five-match series is set to be played at the Perth Stadium starting from 22nd November.
