Hardik Pandya is expected to be retained by the Mumbai Indians before the IPL 2025 auction- Reports

Hardik Pandya rejoined the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a cash-only transaction from the Gujarat Titans (GT) ahead of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Following his return, he was appointed as the team’s captain, taking over the leadership role from Rohit Sharma.

However, the season proved to be difficult for Hardik, as he encountered considerable backlash for replacing Sharma as captain. The team, known for their five championship titles, struggled throughout the season and finished at the bottom of the standings, managing to secure only four victories out of 14 matches.

Despite the disappointing season, reports indicate that the Mumbai franchise plans to retain Hardik ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. According to The Indian Express, MI is expected to keep four players: Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav.

The report also mentions that Mumbai will likely use the Right to Match (RTM) option for Australian batter Tim David and aims to acquire wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan during the auction.
