WATCH: India Women Enjoy Messages From Family Before T20 World Cup Opener

The 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup kicked off on October 3, with India set to face New Zealand in their tournament opener on October 4. Despite never having won a T20 World Cup, the Indian women’s team enters the ninth edition with high hopes.

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side came close in 2020, reaching the final but losing to Australia. This year, with the tournament being held in the United Arab Emirates, the familiarity with the conditions makes India one of the favourites to lift the trophy.

Heartwarming Messages from Family

In a heartening gesture ahead of their first match, the Indian team received motivational messages from their families, carefully curated by the BCCI. These personal videos provided a morale boost to the players, bringing smiles and laughter to the team.

Smriti Mandhana’s family expressed their pride, saying, “Hi Smriti, we wish you all the best for the upcoming World Cup. We are super proud of you and the hard work you put in every day.” Shreyanka Patil’s parents also shared their excitement for their daughter’s debut in the T20 World Cup, congratulating her and wishing the entire team success.

A Tough Group A Challenge

India is grouped alongside strong contenders such as Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and New Zealand in Group A. Australia, the defending champions and six-time winners, remain a formidable opponent.

However, the Indian team’s preparations have been thorough, and their primary goal is to start the tournament on a positive note by securing a win against New Zealand in their opening match. With motivation running high and family support pouring in, Team India is ready to compete in this highly anticipated ICC event.

Aiming for Glory

As India embarks on their T20 World Cup journey, the team carries not only their skill and preparation but also the unwavering support of their families and fans.

With the emotional boost from heartfelt messages and the determination to make history, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side is poised to give their all. Facing strong contenders like New Zealand and Australia, India’s goal remains clear: to overcome past near-misses and lift the T20 World Cup trophy for the first time.
