[WATCH] Indian Off Spinner Jayant Yadav Picks Five Wicket Haul In County Debut

The Indian off-spinner Jayant Yadav picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in County Debut. He achieved this milestone for Middlesex against Lancashire during a Division One encounter played at Old Trafford, Manchester.

The match took place from 10th to 13th September 2023. It was a disappointing batting effort by Middlesex being bundled out for 194 in the first innings. Jayant Yadav bowled with great control as he kept picking wickets after toiling hard. He picked his maiden wicket by dismissing Josh Bohannon with a lovely delivery.

He then dismissed well-set Luke Wells with a simple catch to John Simpson. Yadav toiled hard and eventually got rid of George Bell for 91. He then dismissed Tom Hartley before picking his 5th wicket by T Bailey to finish with figures of 5 for 131 in 33 overs. It was a hard-fought effort by Jayant Yadav playing his county game. Lancashire eventually made 413.

The match ended in a draw with Middlesex ending on 160 for 3. A few Indian stars made their County Debuts this week. Jaydev Unadkat played for Sussex and led them to a thrilling 15-run victory over Leicestershire with 3 for 23 and a match-winning 6 for 94 in the second innings.

Jayant Yadav featured for India in 6 Test matches, 2 One-day internationals, and 20 IPL matches. He has scored 248 runs from 6 matches ( 9 innings) with best score of 104. In the bowling department, Yadav grabbed 16 wickets from 12 innings with best figures of 4 for 49.

Jayant has played only in 2 ODI matches picking only 1 wicket at an economy of 4.36 runs per over. The off-spinner was bought by the Delhi Daredevils squad from 2014-2018. He then was bought by Mumbai Indians from 2019-21. He was bought by the Gujarat Titans franchise in IPL 2022 and played for the same franchise in 2023.
