In a light-hearted moment during the third match of the ILT20 2025 on Sunday, January 12, Ireland and Gulf Giants bowler Mark Adair humorously attempted to clean the glasses of umpire Ahmed Shah Pakteen after he initially ruled a caught-behind appeal as not out.

The incident occurred on the fourth ball of the second over in Sharjah’s innings when Adair bowled a delivery that moved away outside off. Jason Roy tried to direct the ball to the point region but only managed to edge it through to the keeper.

Despite the clear contact, umpire Pakteen called it not out. The Gulf Giants opted for a review, and UltraEdge confirmed a clear spike, prompting the umpire to change his decision to out. Following the reversal, Adair playfully approached Pakteen and attempted to clean his glasses with his jersey.

In pursuit of 175, Sharjah quickly lost Johnson Charles (12) and Jason Roy (0). However, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Rohan Mustafa (45 off 33) built a key partnership, adding 105 runs off 66 balls for the third wicket. While Cadmore kept the runs flowing from one end, Sharjah lost wickets consistently from the other, leaving them at 148-7.

Cadmore then took charge, guiding Sharjah to victory by hitting a double off the last ball. He remained not out on 83 off 56 balls, including six fours and four sixes, securing a three-wicket win for his team.

Skipper Tim Southee Shines with the Ball for Sharjah in First Innings

Sharjah Warriorz won the toss and elected to bowl. Captain Tim Southee set the tone by removing the Gulf Giants openers, Adam Lyth (11) and James Vince (3), early in the innings. The middle order responded strongly with Rehan Ahmed (46 off 27), Jordan Cox (38 off 32), and Shimron Hetmyer (36 off 23) all playing key roles.

Mark Adair remained not out on 20 from 10 balls, and the Gulf Giants posted a total of 174-7 after 20 overs. Tim Southee was the standout bowler for Sharjah, taking three wickets.
