[WATCH]- Ishan Kishan Hits A Six As He Reaches A Century Off 86 Balls In The Buchi Babu Tournament

Team India wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan has marked a thunderous return to domestic cricket by scoring an 86-ball century in the opening round of the Buchi Babu Trophy match between Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. The left-handed batsman hit a six over long-off to complete the three-figure mark.

The left-handed batter has not played for India since the T20I series against Australia in November. Despite repeated instructions by the BCCI and selectors, the 26-year-old did not appear in Ranji Trophy matches either. Ishan also opted out of the Test series against South Africa and was subsequently dropped out of BCCI’s central contract list along with Shreyas Iyer.

As Jharkhand’s player during Buchi Babu Trophy days, he walked out to bat at No.6 on Day 2 after Madhya Pradesh got bowled out for 225. The youngster reached his fifty off 61 deliveries before teeing off.

Ishan Kishan may be selected for India’s Test squad, but he is unlikely to be the primary choice as the keeper-batter

The cricketer from Bihar has a chance to be in the Test squad for forthcoming home series against Bangladesh and New Zealand along with Dhruv Jurel. However, Rishabh Pant’s return could mean that he will don the role of wicketkeeper-batsman again. It will also be a chance for him to feature in his first Test after December 2022 when he met with a serious car accident.

Moreover, Bangladesh and New Zealand series are part of World Test Championship (WTC) as well; currently, India is topping the list of teams leading this tournament.

Once they have hosted five Tests against them on their own grounds, India is off to Australia for the most awaited five-match Test series rubber. They participated in both WTC finals held thus far – losing the first one against New Zealand and then second one by losing to Australia.
