During a practice session ahead of IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) opener Ishan Kishan shared a light moment with the team’s bowling coach, Lasith Malinga. As preparations for the upcoming season began, most players have already joined the team’s camp in Mumbai.

The Mumbai franchise offered fans a peek into their camp by sharing a video on their official X handle. In the video, Ishan Kishan is seen wearing a wig resembling Malinga’s hairstyle and mimicking his slinging bowling action.

Lasith Malinga has joined Mumbai Indians (MI) this season as a bowling coach, taking over from Shane Bond. Previously, he served as a coach for Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the past couple of seasons.

Ishan Kishan has been inactive since December last year, when he took a break during the South Africa tour due to mental fatigue. He has not participated in any international or domestic matches since then.

As a consequence of not playing in the Ranji Trophy despite being fit and away from national cricket commitments, the BCCI recently removed him from the central contracted players list. Shreyas Iyer faced a similar fate and was also omitted from the central contracts list.

“Forcefully, you can’t do anything”-Wriddhiman Saha discussed BCCI’s decision to penalize Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer by withholding central contracts

Senior wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha recently commented on the controversy regarding players prioritizing IPL over domestic tournaments. According to the Times of India, Saha stated:

“That is BCCI’s decision and personal decision of concerned players. Forcefully, you can’t do anything. Whenever I am fit I play, even I played club matches, office matches as well.”

“I always treat a match as a match. All matches are equal for me. If every player thinks on those lines, they will only prosper in their career and it will be better for Indian cricket as well.”
