[Watch]: “It Won’t Keep Me Down For Long” – Mohammed Shami Prepares For His Comeback

Mohammed Shami, a prominent fast bowler for India, is presently sidelined due to an ankle injury. However, fans are pleased to learn that the 33-year-old has commenced training to facilitate his comeback. Shami’s last appearance was in the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he stood out as India’s leading bowler, claiming an impressive 27 wickets in only seven matches.

Following his standout performance, Shami underwent surgery on February 26, resulting in his absence from the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite this setback, Shami recently shared a video on his official Instagram account, offering fans a glimpse into his current training regimen.

Mohammed Shami’s caption for the post:

“Injury may have sidelined me, but it won’t keep me down for long. Watch me reclaim my place on the field.”

It’s important to note that Mohammed Shami is not included in India’s 2024 T20 World Cup squad as he is still recovering from his injury. The bowler is anticipated to make his highly awaited return to international cricket in September during India’s Test series against Bangladesh.

GT sorely missed Mohammed Shami during their 2024 IPL campaign

In the IPL 2024, the Gujarat squad faced the absence of their key fast bowler, which had a notable impact on their performance given his status as one of their primary bowlers. During the previous IPL season, Mohammed Shami showcased exceptional form, securing 28 wickets in 17 matches and claiming the prestigious Purple Cap.

However, with Shami sidelined in the current season, the Titans encountered difficulties in maintaining their performance consistency. Gujarat ended their campaign with five wins, seven losses, and two matches abandoned due to rain.

Under Shubman Gill’s leadership, the team failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in their history, finishing eighth in the points table.
